HPLC profile of phenolic acids and flavonoids of Ocimum sanctum and O. basilicum

This study aimed to investigate the antioxidant activity, total phenolic content (TPC), and flavonoid (TFC), as well profile of two species O. sanctum (OS) basilicum (OB). The TPC, TFC, cultivated sanctum's profiles were similar. TPC OS OB produced 386 383 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE) per 100 g, whereas 201 203 quercetin (QE) g extract was obtained during TFC assay. activity extracts determined by scavenging DPPH radicals with an inconsiderable difference. HPLC techniques separated individual acids flavonoids. Phenolic (gallic, caffeic, ferulic, sinapic, syringic) flavonoids (quercetin, luteolin, rutin, apigenin, kaempferol) commonly identified quantified in chromatogram OB. maximum found among yield analyzed both extracts.
